Last month, The U.S.A. marked the 50th anniversary since the March on Washington occurred. That day changed the lives of all American citizens of all color and races. Dr. King spoke about equality for everyone, greater civil rights, economic rights, and to stop racism. He dreamed that one day everyone no matter what color they were could join as one family and one nation. During that time predominately black people weren't being treated the same as whites and didn't have the same privileges. So African Americans established the march on Washington which was organized by civil rights leaders, religious leaders, and labor organizations. The marching crowd was made up of 200,000 black people who marched from state to state demanding jobs and freedom. Some people think that we shouldn't even recognize that day and feel it's irrelevant to today's society but everyone has their own opinion. We should definitely acknowledge that powerful movement because it literally changed the world. After that day the civil rights act was established giving us our freedom and rights.

Once again Floyd "Money" Mayweather has defeated another one of boxing's' to prospects as he increased his undefeated record to 45-0. Last weekend, Floyd entered in the ring to face Mexico's boxing champion Canelo Alvarez who also had an undefeated record with 41 wins and no defeats. The fight was estimated to be worth about 41 million dollars which was the most in boxing history. Everyone was excited about this fight because of Canelo's outstanding performance against Austin Trout who was the reigning champion. After beating Austin Trout he immediately became next in line to face Floyd Mayweather. Canelo was hands down the favorite to win the fight for many reasons. Many people does not like Floyd because they think he is cocky, arrogant, disrespectful and too flashy for his own good so they would enjoy watching him lose. He is seen on the internet and on television showing off his cars, house, and money to the viewers. If someone works hard for what they have then you have to respect it. He also talks bad about his opponents and shows no respect for them. I think what he does is his business and if he backs up the talk then you really can't say anything. What he does is just apart of his scheme to make more money in my opinion. By hyping up the fight and providing entertainment, more people would pay to watch the fight therefore he would make more money. Another reason everyone thought Floyd was going to lose is because of his age. People thought he may have lost a few steps because he's starting to age but once again he proved everyone wrong. He clearly won every round but at the end of the fight one judge scored the fight as a draw. That just shows how much people really hate and him and how bad they want to see him lose. Some people criticized Mayweather for requesting Canelo to fight at a catched weight; 152 lbs. By having to lose around 6 pounds to make weight, analyst say it may have had an affect on his performance. In all reality no one can compete with Floyd in the ring. Most of his success comes form his confidence and work ethic. He is just on another level than his competitors an has been for a while now. That just shows that hard work really does pay off. He will definitely go down as one of the greatest of all time.

As we all may no President Obama is in a serious dilemma dealing with Syria and their problems. They are having trouble controlling their chemical weapons so the President is deciding to act on it. It is said that Syria has over 1,000 metric tons of chemical weapons that no one knows how they got it. For some reason they keep using them not only on other countries and cities but their own people. People in Syria are not safe because they are living through day to day potential hazards. The Syrian citizens are living in fear everyday not knowing where or what's going to get bombed next. Being the United States, the world leader, we try everything possible to the world a safe place especially for innocent people. That's why Obama is deciding to step of the middle of this national controversy that's going on in Syria. Obama is receiving a lot of criticism from every corner in attempt stop the violence and use of chemical weapons in Syria. Some say he was too hesitant in his decision to act and some say he shouldn't at all. I don't know why people are beginning to question Obama's authority for the decisions he is making. Some say that it is damaging his reputation as an effective president for our country. I think everyone has their opinion and the president will do what he thinks will benefit us and others. If he does not stop this, it is a possibility that Syria might try to use the weapons on us. So his decision to act is only safe for us and is right in my opinion. Obama as of right is now is trying to come to an agreement with the Syria. If they destroy all chemical weapons no more blood will be spilled but if they don't he will send the military to destroy them.

Washington Navy Yard Shooting

On Monday, a deadly shooting occurred at the Washington Navy Yard where at least 13 people were killed and four were injured. The people responsible were described as three gunmen dressed in soldier like gear who looked as if they were on a rampage. One of the soldiers died supposedly served in the U.S. Navy for four years himself but the other two are still roaming around and they may attack again. One gunmen was described as a black male, 50 years old wearing a green military uniform. The other gunmen was a young white male also wearing a navy combat uniform. It is viewed as a terrorist attack by resident Barak Obama who is trying very hard to stop attacks at these. In my opinion I think it's very little you can do because you don't know who, where, or when the attacks will take place. The first attack from the gunmen was in the morning near Washington's Headquarters. Dozens of police reacted to the scene very fast in search of the deadly terrorist insurgents along with many helicopters. Immediately police cars and helicopters were surrounding the white house to make sure the gunmen wouldn't attack there. It's a good thing they didn't get to the white house because things would have gotten worse. This incident isn't really anything new to the U.S.A as we have dealt with similar problems in the past. We have experienced a number of devastating terrorist attacks such as 9/11, the Boston bombing, poisoned mail sent to the white house, and the various shootings at universities/high schools. The truth is just that we are living in a crazy world with crazy people. The question is why people keep doing things like this? We will never grow as a nation if people keep hurting one another for no reason at all. It's just sad that we have to witness these types of things within our own country by our own people.
